National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

Membership in NJHS at Los Coyotes Middle School requires that 7th and 8thgrade students must achieve a grade point average of 3.0 in each of the 2 Semesters during the previous year as well as O and S marks in Citizenship. In addition, they may not have more than 2 discipline log entries for the previous school year. These requirements must be maintained during the current year as well. Members will complete a minimum of 20 hours of approved community service. Specific requirements and awards will be discussed with members upon acceptance.  

 

NJHS members must also meet additional qualification criteria in these 5 areas....

Character:  Shows courtesy and respect, embracing moral and ethical principles.

Scholarship: Displays academic excellence in rigorous coursework and meets the academic requirements.

Leadership: Proposes solutions to ever changing problems; decision making; demonstrating a positive attitude.

Service: Participation in out-of-school activities, doing volunteer work and helping others.

Citizenship: Understands the importance of civic involvement. Demonstrates mature participation and responsibility in and out of school.

 

Our big end of the year community service project is Relay For Life of La Mirada/Whittier at Splash! This year, the event will take place on Saturday, May 2. Join us or donate to our team LCMS Caring for a Cure and help us reach our fundraising goal of $6,000 this year, as this will mark our 6th year participating.
