Los Coyotes is committed to the education and development of well-rounded, contributing members of society. Los Coyotes Middle School provides an academically challenging environment for all students with extensive extracurricular programs. Students are placed in leveled math classes to support their growth potential and are supported in their reading through balanced literacy strategies.

 

Students performing below grade level in Language Arts are offered a second hour of instruction each day. With literacy as our first priority, we have implemented a summer reading program for all students and a Get A Clue Book Club to encourage a love for reading. This year students participated in a "Bookcrossing" (www.bookcrossing.com) where they receive free books to read and then left them in a public place for other people to find and enjoy reading. Spanish is offered to seventh and eighth grade students who are proficient in Language Arts. Tutoring is also available to all students before school, after school and during lunch in all core subjects.

 

Los Coyotes believes students who are involved in the school are more successful academically. Students are offered after school enrichment classes for newspaper, drama, medieval crafts, digital video technology, graphing calculator, campus beautification, and ultimate frisbee. Students can also participate in our outstanding athletic teams, cheerleading, Academic Pentathlon, or top-notch music program. All students create Science projects to compete in our yearly Science Fair. Our highly sought after Leadership class supports many of the ongoing school activities, develops leaders, and provides representatives from each class to have a voice in school government. Various field trips provide hands-on experiences that bring classroom lessons to life. Students have the opportunity to take Science trips to various destinations.
